This is a good defensive rubber that I used on my backhand. The topsheet is tacky, so soft shots generate spin. The sponge absorbs energy and bottoms-out easily. When that happens, the ball reflects, and the spin is scrubbed off for a more controlled return. You won't win points with a smoking backhand, but it helps keep the ball in play and will make the opponent be aware of which side of the bat you're using.
